EST is a next-generation large-aperture solar telescope being built by Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias (IAC) where CiTD is responsible for the heat rejector (HR) development which operates as first field stop of the optical system, a critical part of the telescope.
The main aim of the HR is to reject the solar radiation falling outside the selected Field of View, avoiding the development of thermal plumes that will disturb the optical system. The biggest challenge for CiTD is to evacuate as much system absorbed heat as possible within the specific temperature
CITD Engineering & Technologies has developed a prototype with a more efficient and innovative design thanks to Additive Manufacturing technology. This prototype its now being manufactured and will be tested to check its performance under nominal and also extreme conditions. It is a pleasure to share this challenge with the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) experts! Nauzet Vega Reyes, Juan Cozar Castellano, Mary Barreto Cabrera , Miguel Nuñez Cagigal .
